Our 2025 digging season is under way and we have a few options available for our rockhounding community. We have reopened our mine this year for public digs and all the information for that can be found under Mine Experience/ Tours on the Home page of our website. We also have our TAILINGS PILE at our store location in Spencer Idaho open and ready for the season! We bring down ore several times a week depending on weather to let the public go through and find their own beautiful precious opals! The cost is $75 per person ($50 for kids) that includes a 2.5 gallon bucket for your ore and help from our mining staff. It is open 9am-5pm everyday but Wednesday and NO RESERVATIONS are required. 
You need to bring your own tools, we recommend a spray bottle, garden trowel or garden claw, and a hammer.
You must have some sort of eye protection, safety glasses, or sunglasses work just fine. 
Everyone who is going to be in the digging area must be at least 16 years of age, and we need to have something that can verify age like a school ID, or driver's license. We do allow children above the age of 8 to do digging in our mini mine but they must be accompanied by an adult!
We highly recommend dressing appropriately for the heat! Remember that you’re going to be sitting outside in the full sun on a pile of rocks! So sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen are always a great idea!
We will be giving you guys the buckets, but if you wanna bring something to put all your tools in to take out with you that is more than fine!
